When Pritam is the composer, you can expect a musical ride! Jab Harry Met Sejal is directed by Imtiaz Ali – the hero of unconventional romance – music has to be the TRP of the film and this Shah Rukh Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer is no different.
Here’s our music review of Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma’s Jab Harry Met Sejal:

Main bani teri Radha, Maine sakhiyon se ankhiyon mein, Rakhna hai tujhko piya thoda zyaada zyaada, Main bani teri Radha….
The song starts with tunes of Khartal, Tumbi, Sarangi, Sapp and flute and that’s enough to set the mood set. Radha is a perfect song for all those times when in Punjab all those before shaadi rasmein begin. The fusion of folk and modern tunes is what works for Radha. Sung by Shahid Mallya, Pritam Chakraborty and Sunidhi Chauhan, Radha is a foot tapping number and you can’t stop falling in love with the song. eh gaye gyaani ishq siyapa, aag jawaani, Kariye na jhootha koi vaada – lyrics by Irshad Kamil add the typical Punjabi flavour and quirkiness.
Beech Beech Mein

The album from the desi tadka vibe enters to the club music. Beech Beech Mein – literally grows on you and you get addicted to the song and well, it’s then difficult to not put the song on the repeat mode. If you are a music buff, you would get the flavour of the tunes of the 80s. Arijit Singh, Shalmali Kholgade and Shefali Alvares high notes take the song to an entirely different level. Beech Beech Mein is an upbeat number and instruments like electronic guitar, drums, guitar riffs and keyboard make it a maddening affair.

Safar gives that indie sort of feel and a perfect song to jam on with your set of mad friends. Just take a guitar and set your tune right and your work is done. The song will also give you that vibe that you would want to pack your bags and go on a solo trip to explore the unexplored territories in order to meet your inner self. A perfect tune is expected when Shah Rukh Khan, Imtiaz Ali, Pritam and Irshad Kamil get together to make a song. Whatsay?!

Sung by Aaman Trikha, Nooran Sisters, Dev Negi and Sunidhi Chauhan, Butterfly has been composed by Pritam and the lyrics are penned by Irshad Kamil. As soon the song starts, you will be transported to the khets of Punjab – Khili jahaan pe jahaan pe genhu, Ruka wahin pe wahin pe main hoon…Ni butterfly banke, Tu le angdaai tann ke, Ni aaja kudi aaja kheton mein! You would love that bhangra section – which has the tunes of Esraj, Sapp, Sarangi, Kato, Dhol and Dhadd. If you are a Punjabi, you would relate to the song as the music is celebratory.

How is it possible that a Shah Rukh Khan film won’t have that one quintessential romantic number? Here we have Hawayiein and it’s easily one of the best ones in the album. You would love the transition from a high-on-energy upbeat track to soothing and mellow tunes. Arijit Singh’s vocal perfectly suits the bill and it’s an ideal song that you would want to play when that one special person is sitting next to you in the room and through the window, you both can see the rain pouring. The tunes of piano and acoustic guitar make it even more soothing to the ears. As SRK himself said, “I wanted to launch Hawayein in the rain. I wanted everyone to get wet and enjoy the song. This is a very beautiful love song, the song’s title is just like today’s weather, Hawayein. The song has also been picturised beautifully. It’s a very cosy song. Pritam has worked very hard with Imtiaz and Irshad Kamil to make this music.”

Now, comes the much-awaited number – Phurrr! Composed by Diplo in collaboration with Pritam, Phurrr is a little hatke track and not exaggerating but the music will keep you hooked to the song if you fail to understand the lyrics bit. Drums, Electronic Guitar Keyboard have been very intelligently used through out the song. Hats off for the music!
Verdict: Overall, the music album is a blend of maasaledaar and soothing tunes. It captures the essence of a typical Bollywood film.
We give it 80 out of 100 on the Pinkvilla Meter!
